Thanasis Neofotistos is a Film Director, Writer & Architect from Greece. Head Programmer in Drama Int. Film Festival (2019-2024), member of European & Greek Film Academy, but most importantly, member of the LGBTQI+ community! His short films, AIRHOSTESS-737 (16’-2022), PATISION AVENUE (13’-2018), ROUTE-3 (12’-2019) & GREEK SCHOOL PRAYER (20’-2014), have premiered and won awards, amongst others, at Venice, Sundance, Toronto, Locarno and Clermont-Ferrand Film Festivals! AIRHOSTESS-737 (16’-2022), his latest short film, premiered at 75th Locarno Film Festival, won & compete at 44th Sundance (Best Actress by Vimeo), 47th TIFF Toronto (Honorable Mention), 45th Clermont-Ferrand 2023 (Best Actress), 49th Seattle (Best Film), Greek Film Academy (Best Film) amongst others, and is consider one of the best short films of 2022, according to IndieWire, and more! Got the Oscar Qualification and got a distribution by The New Yorker!
His short film, PATISION AVENUE (13’-2018), premiered at 75th Venice Film Festival, won 3 awards at 41st Clermont-Ferrand 2019 (Jury, Canal+, EFA), is in Vimeo Staff Picks and was a 2019 Festival-Hit with more than 100 film festival selections! ROUTE-3 (12’-2019), world-premiered at 44th TIFF Toronto 2019 and then again in 42nd Clermont-Ferrand 2020 and was part of “We-Are-One”, a global historic film festival event. GREEK SCHOOL PRAYER (20’-2014) was his successful thesis (Best Greek short film of 2014), which now counts over 2 Milion views in YouTube, and SPARKLING CANDLES (9’-2019) is his LGBTQI+ super cute queer short film that premiered at the legendary 43rd Frameline IFF!
After 10 years of preparations, he is now in the final-production stage of his debut feature film, which he envisions as a dark fantasy folkate and his personal coming-of-age Greek-Tragedy; THE BOY WITH THE LIGHT-BLUE EYES (*aka PETER AND THE WOLF). The film is a co-production of Greece, US, Serbia, North Macedonia, Romannia and Cyprus, got the Eurimage Prize in CineLink, Media funding and has been developed, amongst others, at First-Films-First, MFI, Sarajevo, Cannes Focus COPRO` & Les Arc WIP!
His next feature film project, WILD BOARS, part of the “Blue-Eyes Trilogy” was developing through Torino Film Lab & MFI, while he is working in a very personal feature documentary project, STUFFED TOMATOES, about his acceptance by his family.
